Carrying on the Dan Ross Tradition

Carrying on the Dan Ross Tradition, 4th Edition

Dan Ross was an oboist, professor, and entrepreneur whose influence on the oboe world continues to be felt today. For nearly twenty years, he visited the University of South Florida to share his deep knowledge of reed-making and the art of oboe playing. His day-long masterclass, open to the public, served not only as an invaluable educational experience for the USF oboe studio but also as an important outreach event for high school oboists throughout the Tampa Bay area. What began as a teaching opportunity quickly grew into an annual tradition that was eagerly anticipated by students and professionals alike. Sadly, this tradition came to an end with his passing in 2019.
Carrying on the Dan Ross Tradition will echo the spirit of those beloved masterclasses. Guest artist Lisa Kozenko will bring her own insights, experiences, and stories of this remarkable figure, honoring both Dan’s legacy and his profound impact on the oboe community.
