Lyman L. Dukes III, Ph.D.
Dukes earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut. He is a professor of exceptional student education and master’s program coordinator at the ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏ, where he brings more than 30 years of experience in education across academic and administrative roles in higher education.
Dukes’ scholarship focuses on secondary and postsecondary education for students with disabilities, with particular emphasis on college access, success and transition planning. He has published extensively, including several books addressing postsecondary education and disability, and has secured local, state and federal grant funding to support research, program development and doctoral training in exceptional student education.
In addition to his faculty role, Dukes serves as executive director of the Eileen Hoffman Hafer UMatter Program, a comprehensive college experience for students with intellectual disabilities, and as co–principal investigator of the SPIDER Consortium, which advances inclusive disability education and research through global collaboration. His current work examines universal design for learning in postsecondary education, accessibility policy and practice, and the development of standards, tools and training that support equitable and inclusive higher education environments in the United States and internationally.
