About my research

I graduated with my B.S in oceanography and minor in mathematics from California State University Maritime Academy. After taking an environmental biogeochemistry course, I became interested in chemical oceanography, and more specifically, in the marine carbon cycle. My undergraduate research experiences at Cal Maritime and my time as a Hollings Scholar with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, encouraged me to further build my computational skills as an oceanographer. In Patrick Rafter鈥檚 Ocean Climate Lab, I plan to use modeling to examine carbon export in high nutrient low chlorophyll zones.

Why USF CMS?

I chose USF College of Marine Science because my research interests are aligned with Patrick Rafter鈥檚 lab. The lab focuses on the ocean from a global holistic perspective and looks at ocean carbonate cycling from the past and into the future. The College of Marine Science also offers at-sea opportunities with the Florida Institute of Oceanography and would allow me to explore my other interest in observational oceanography.
