About My Research

I am pursuing a master鈥檚 degree at the College of Marine Science. I graduated from Eckerd College where I double majored in marine science in mathematics and a minor in chemistry. During undergraduate I did research with climate stressor effects on larval physiology of the Florida stone crab, coupling it with stochastic modeling. Here at the college, I am shifting focuses in Weiyi Tang鈥檚 lab whose focus is exploring how the biogeochemical cycling of nitrogen and carbon changes in response to human activities. In his lab I will specifically work to develop a sensor that can detect trace levels of nutrients such as ammonium and urea in the deep ocean. I have a wide range of interests in marine science, and I am always looking for ways to connect and collaborate on research initiatives.

Why USF CMS?

While studying at Eckerd College during my undergraduate studies I grew a deep connection with the St. Pete area. Having an amazing university in the College of Marine Science just down the road has allowed me to continue my studies and stay in this amazing community. I was lucky enough to find this opportunity in Dr. Tang鈥檚 lab where I can continue to explore climate impacts on oceanography. As soon as I visited campus and met current members and faculty of CMS, I knew I had made the right choice. I am excited for my adventure to continue here in the upcoming years.
