The ϱ is one of the best places to work in the country, according to the list of 2026 recently released by Forbes. For the second consecutive year, USF was the only public or private university in Florida to make the list.

Among employers ranked in the education industry, USF is No. 13 in the nation overall and No. 5 among public higher education institutions.

“We are proud to be recognized as one of America’s dream employers and the only Florida university to make the list for the second consecutive year,” President Rhea Law said. “USF has become one of the nation’s leading public research universities thanks to our faculty and staff, and we are committed to making our university a great place to work.”

To create the list, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 10,000 college students in the United States and more than 140,000 U.S.-based employees at companies across all sectors that employ at least 1,000 people in the country.

Among the questions, current workers were asked to evaluate their employers based on criteria such as salary, health benefits, professional development, workplace flexibility and the ability of employees to express ideas. Data from the past three years of Forbes-Statista employee surveys was included. More information on the methodology is available on the .

“Our team members demonstrate their individual talents and dedication to collaboration every day,” said Heather Brock, interim vice president and chief human resources officer. “At the core of a great place to work are the great people who stay focused on the mission and always seek opportunities to innovate.”

Earlier this year, Forbes recognized USF as the best employer among Florida universities and one of America’s top large employers. In addition, Forbes consistently ranks USF highly for its academic excellence and value.

USF employs approximately 16,000 people across campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and USF Health. More details about the benefits of working at USF, available positions, and the application process are available from USF Human Resources.
