When Amanda Kardosh talks about sustainability, she speaks with the clarity of someone who has watched the field evolve for more than two decades. Today, she leads sustainability at Bloomin鈥� Brands, the company behind Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba鈥檚 Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming鈥檚 Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Her passion for the field began long before ESG became a corporate priority.

PCGS students and alumni, including City of Tampa Sustainability Officer Kayla Caselli, also participated, showcasing the college鈥檚 leadership in advancing real-world sustainability solutions.

Anthony Halcyon, Senior Environmental Scientist, shared his personal journey from protecting Florida鈥檚 water resources to joining global research expeditions in Montenegro, where he helped document one of the last wild rivers. He reminded us that conservation is about listening to people, understanding local realities, and finding shared solutions.

The MARS Project focuses on growing plants for food and human interface in controlled environments such as off-grid autonomous growing units on Earth, the International Space Station (ISS), and in Moon and Mars colonies. The MARS Project was conceptualized by Dr. Joseph W. Dorsey and conducted in conjunction with the University of East London (UEL).

Patel College awards over $16,000 in scholarships
The Patel College of Global Sustainability honored a diverse group of students who are turning their passion for the planet into action at the Butz and Patel Distinguished Scholar Award Ceremony. The event awarded a total of six scholarships amounting to $16,000 (four $2,500 Butz Scholarship awards and two $3,000 Patel Distinguished Scholarship awards).

Speaker Series - Dr deChant
On Wednesday, October 15th, the Sustainability Speaker Series featured Dr. Dell deChant, an instructor in the Department of Religious Studies at the 黑料爆料. Dr. deChant also leads the USF Food Sovereignty Group and works closely with the New Port Richey FarmNet, where he promotes sustainable, community-based food practices.
