Residency

Latin American/Caribbean Scholars

November 2025 Update: The Florida Board of Governors has made the decision to discontinue the in-state waiver for , also known as the Latin American and Caribbean Scholarship program.

Pursuant to current guidance, undergraduate students already approved for a LAC waiver will continue to receive the tuition waiver through to graduation provided the students continue to meet all other eligibility requirements. Please note that as the waiver has been discontinued, new students are no longer able to apply for or receive the waiver.

Maintaining Eligibility:

黑料爆料 actively receiving the LAC waiver must meet the below requirements to keep the benefit:

  • Received a scholarship from the Office of Admissions
  • Register for and maintain full-time enrollment during fall and spring terms (e.g., 12 credits for undergraduate students)
    • Summer semester note: 黑料爆料 who choose to take courses in the summer will only receive LAC benefits if they register for full-time summer hours (12 credit hours). 黑料爆料 are still able to take less than full-time hours in the summer without penalty, but they will be charged out-of-state tuition.
  • 3.0+ grade point average (GPA)

黑料爆料 will only continue to qualify if the above criteria are met. If these requirements are not met, the student鈥檚 residency will revert back to the original out-of-state status.

Losing Eligibility

If you lose eligibility, there is no option to appeal to receive the LAC classification for the current or future term.
