Workshops & Trainings

The Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention (CVAVP) offers workshops and training sessions for members of the campus community. To request a training for your student organization, class, or department, please complete .  

The trainings listed below may be able to be modified to fit audience needs and time slots. CVAVP can also deliver trainings on other topics related to violence, including boundaries, victimology, sexual violence, stalking, and harassment.

Workshop Descriptions

Bystander Intervention Training

Description: Through Bystander Intervention Training, participants develop skills to identify potentially violent situations and safely and effectively intervene to decrease instances of violence in the USF community and create a culture of collective support. ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏ explore signs and dynamics of power-based violence, ways to navigate barriers to intervening, and the 3D bystander intervention approach. 

*Content Preview: This workshop explores topics related to violence, including sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, and harassment. 

Length: 90 minutes (can be modified to a shorter 60-minute session) 

Format: Virtual or in person (access to screen slides needed)

Intended Audience: The standard Bystander Intervention Training is designed for student participants. We also have Bystander Intervention Trainings tailored for specific audiences – 1) faculty/staff; 2) student workers, 3) healthcare students and professionals. If you are interested in one of these specialized trainings, please include that in the request. 


Camp Consent 

Description: In this interactive, camp-themed workshop, participants develop skills that support consent communication and healthy relationship behaviors.  In rotating learning stations, participants build skills in the following competencies: 

  • Affirming boundaries
  • Sharing power
  • Communicating to connect, not coerce 

Learning stations incorporate digital storytelling, movement, and play to support engagement. We end the workshop in a full-group opportunity for skill-building and reflection around self-advocacy.  

*Content Preview: This workshop explores sexual consent and discussion may include the topic of sexual violence. Scenario-based practice includes depictions of coercion. 

Length: 90 minutes 

Format: In person only. Camp Consent is designed to be facilitated in-person in three separate learning spaces for breakout groups. For smaller groups, we can often facilitate in a single space.  Access to screen for slides needed. Contact CVAVP to discuss space options. 

Intended Audience: Student participants


Consent Conversations

Description: Consent Conversations supports students in developing consent communication skills. Through engaging activities, students learn best practices for sexual consent and explore how lived experience and communication norms impact how people approach talking about their boundaries and needs. Using scenarios, participants practice skills for responsive and affirming consent communication practices.

How to Support Survivors

Description: This training teaches participants best practices for providing peer-to-peer trauma-informed support to those who have experienced victimization. In addition to exploring support skills, participants will learn more about services offered to USF community members through the Center for Victim Advocacy. Sessions can be customized to focus on supporting survivors of specific forms of violence (e.g. sexual violence, relationship violence).  

*Content Preview: This workshop explores topics related to violence, which may include sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, and harassment. 

Length: 30 to 60 minutes

Intended Audience: Student participants


Relationship Violence

Description: This workshop provides an overview of forms and dynamics of relationship violence, including red flags for unhealthy/abusive relationship behavior. Participants discuss healthy relationship skills and best practices for supporting survivors.

Length: 30 to 60 minutes

Trauma-Informed Support and Practices

Description: This professional development session explores trauma-informed, survivor supportive practices. Topics can include an overview of trauma and trauma-informed frameworks, best practices for disclosure response and referral, and strategies for creating safe, validating educational spaces and contributing to community violence prevention efforts.

Length: 60-90 minutes

Format: In person or virtual (in person preferred)

Intended Audience: Faculty, staff, graduate students (TAs/GAs)


Violence Prevention 101

Description: In this training, participants learn foundational prevention concepts and consider ways they can participate in efforts to build a campus community free of violence.

*Content preview: This workshop will focus on prevention strategies but may discussions of violence and sexual consent.
